Learn to BUILD with Brick, Stone and Concrete

Masonry is mostly about construction with brick, stone, or concrete blocks joined together with mortar to create structures. It can sometimes involve other materials though. Masonry structures may be buildings, fences, walls, or perhaps something else.

This course is mostly about understanding materials used by bricklayers, concreters, and stone masons. It explains the different ways those materials may be used to both build and repair things. 

Students will need a basic set of masonry tools and access to some brick, stone, concrete, and cement.  

Study this course to learn about:

  • The use of hard construction materials including concrete stone and brick.
  • Laying bricks
  • Masonry applications in both landscaping and building construction. 
  • Different types of materials and techniques used to create buildings, interior and exterior building features and landscape features.

This course will develop your understanding of different types of materials and techniques used to create buildings, interior and exterior building features and landscape features.

It is of value to anyone who is involved with property management, maintenance or construction. It relates to commercial and residential construction and to landscape construction as well.

More than Just Bricklaying - but that too!

This course is mostly about understanding materials used by bricklayers, stone workers, concreters and masons; and expanding your knowledge of the different ways those materials may be used to both build and repair things.

We cover a broad range of masonry materials, tools and techniques in this course. You will no doubt use use some, but possibly not others. No one can predict the future though, so we do try to prepare you to consider all that is possible when confronting different projects.

The final lesson is concerned with bringing together your knowledge and understanding in a way that helps you to put it into practice. We shall conclude with a project of your choice, but before that there are other things you may have to consider.
