Learn the Fundamentals of Civil Engineering
Plan for a career working in essential services with key skills in
- problem solving and planning,
- design and construction.
Course Code: BSC005
Course Duration: 600 hours of self paced studies
Civil Engineering involves creating and maintaining physical environments. This includes infrastructure, buildings, roads, drains, pipelines, dams, services such as sewers, water reticulation, railways, and much more.
Civil engineers normally need to have completed a university degree, but most of the hands-on work undertaken in civil engineering is carried out by labourers, tradesmen and many others from ancillary services, with various levels of expertise across a wide range of areas.
Much of the work carried out today is mechanised. Knowledge and skill with machinery and technology is essential and a good place to start thinking about how engineering projects are applied.
Additionally work undertaken is most often on a project by project basis, so skills in project and cost management are highly valued.
